Handloom is a part of sanctity and heritage for the women of Assam. The legendary Vaishnav Saint , Srimanta Shankardeva, who was an excellent and honorary weaver, who’s handiworks are still preserved in renowned museums around the world, gave rise to the handloom of Assam.

Pallabi Handloom is one of the only contemporary flag bearers of great heritage of Handloom lineage of Assam.
Mrs Runima Chetia Choudhury, the founder and proprietor of Pallabi Handoom herself is a Master weaver, who received the “National Award of Handloom” from the Textile Ministry of Union Government of India. Pallabi Handloom is a SilkMark user industry. It receives the user certificate of “GI mark for Muga silk”. Pallabi Handloom is authorized to use the “Indian Handloom Brand” for Muga silk dress materials by the Textile Ministry of India.
Pallabi Handloom works like a community based institution. Pallabi Handloom gains, works, helps and shares knowledge with the community experts for raring the precious Muga, Eri and Mulberry silkworms. It collects the produced cocoons from the silkworm rearers and spins the finest yarn with the help of trained community members. There are hundreds of community members involved in the making these products.
Pallabi Handloom produces and customizes all types of Indian traditional and modern garments in its own industry. The industry comply with all the rules and regulation of SME in general and specifically about the well being and facilities of weavers
